Sylphium Laser Cutter/Engraver

The Sylphium Laser Cutter is a professional cutting machine using a Ruida DSP control system.

It has a 150W CO2 cutting head for wood, plastic, and other materials.  It has a second 300W CO2 head for think (<1mm) sheets of metal.  We also have a rotary attachment for engraving cylindrical objects.

We have a honeycomb table for maintaining small pieces and a knife table for metal cutting.

Machine Status: Working

Dimensions: Maximum working area of the machine is 1200mm x 1000mm.  The rotary axis can work cylindrical pieces of up to 150mm diameter.  We have enough travel in the Z axis to handle material up to 200mm thick.  We have a passthrough mechanism for materials up to 50mm thick.

Materials: The Sylphium Laser is suitable for cutting wood or plastic up to 10mm thick and metals up to 1mm thick.

Toolchain: In general, the input should be clean vector SVG files.  We use inkscape to generate these, but a CAD package will also work.  We input these into Lightburn for driving the machine.  For convenience, it is easier to group all the items that need the same operation (cut, engrave etc) as the same colour.
